Why Good Customer Service Will Always Win

If you've never heard this quote before and you own a business or work in customer service, please take note because it is huge and it is a major #TRUTHBOMB. This quote from Damon Richards has become like my mission statement.

Because here's the deal - as hard as it is to swallow, there ARE people out there that know more than me (shocker). There ARE people out there that have more experience than me. But here's what I know:

My customer service skills are on point.

It's not that I'm not confident in my abilities. I know Marketing. But the truth is, Marketing agencies are not rare. In fact, they are a dime a dozen. But good customer service and client relationship skills are, in my opinion, rare in this industry and especially today. People have gotten so focused on numbers, data, proving their point. Don't get me wrong - data is awesome. But data without attention to how your client responds to that data is not.

See, my client's businesses are as important to me as my own. Their success is my success because their success reflects on me.

Customer Service Will Always Win

Let me explain. If you have really great customer service but don't know what you're doing, you will not win. But, with comparable knowledge and experience as your competitor and way better customer service, you will most definitely win. Here's an example:

A new client came to me recently and said this:

"I'm using an agency who made me a good website, but they don't respond to my emails or use my ideas when I ask them to."

Key takeaway - the agency did a fine job, but they are going to lose the client because they are unresponsive. And I'm going to win the client because I will never let an email go unanswered for even a day (unless I'm on vacation, but even then I may respond). I will text you if I can't get to the phone and let you know when I can get back to you. I will always be transparent about deadlines and realistic timelines for projects.
